Meal Accounts
The Food Service Program offers a computerized Point of Sale service at all of the District schools. Students are randomly assigned a four-digit number and may deposit money into their personal account. The account acts as a debit system, and purchases are subtracted from the total available money. The students may also pay cash on the line for any and all purchases. Parents or guardians may request a copy of the history of the student's account from the cafeteria manager.
Meal Charges
Meal charges are strongly discouraged in the District schools. In the cas
e where a student has forgotten his/her money, the student will be allowed to charge up to $5.00 on his/her cafeteria account. After this point has been reached, if a student does not have money to pay for a meal, then he/she will be offered an alternate sustenance such as a peanut butter sandwich with a drink. If a parent or guardian is unable to pay for lunch or breakfast, he/she may fill out a free or reduced priced-meals application and return it to the school or the food service office. There will be no charging of ala carte items.
Free or Reduced Price Meal Benefits
To apply for free or reduced priced meal benefits, please complete a household application, which is available in the schools office or from the Food Service office. Applications may be filled out at any time during the school year. Once processed, notification letters will be mailed to the home regarding the students new eligibility.
Returned Checks
The Food Service office will notify parents of any returned check upon receipt. These checks must be covered within three (3) working days from notification. During this period the student will receive an alternate sustenance lunch. If the check is not covered, the student will stay on an alternate sustenance meal.
