Boyle County and Danville Independent Schools will be hosting a community forum. Both superintendents, Mike LaFavers and Carmen Coleman, will be discussing the future of education, how it directly impacts our students and what both school systems are doing to prepare for future successes. One aspect of the Boyle County and Danville relationship is built on a long and rich history of friendly rivalry. This holds true today, but both superintendents are committed to providing the best education and feel it is of utmost importance to get community involvement and feedback.
During this time discussions will be held regarding what skills are critical for today's learners. These include such things as:
-Critical Thinking and Problem Solving
-Collaboration and Leadership
-Agility and Adaptability
-Initiative and Entrepreneurialism
-Effective Oral and Written Communication
-Accessing, Organizing and Analyzing Information
-Perseverance
-Curiosity and Imagination
The superintendents would like to have questions submitted from the community. Some questions will be addressed at the forum. Due to time constraints, others will be answered by email. Questions for the superintendents may be submitted to LuAnne Littlefield (luanne.littlefield@boyle.kyschools.us) or Paige Stevens (paige.stevens@danville.kyschools.us). Questions can also be dropped off at either board office. All questions need to be submitted by Wednesday, November 29th.
The special forum will take place at Inter County Energy Building at 7:00 PM on December 1, 2009. All who have an interest are welcome to attend.
We hope to see you there!
